Weekend Highlights

The excitement never ends with me....I sure hope that celebrities don't stumble upon my blog for fear that they will end their lives seeing how the other half lives.

  • Coach fixed all bikes for the family....new tires, breaks adjusted etc.... yeah!!!

  • Realized the girls are still riding the bikes they got 6 years ago. Time to upgrade. Their knees hit the handlebars.

  • Walked 2 miles on treadmill Sat. Morning.

  • Pumped some iron. I am really KICKING BUTT.

  • ate the last 3 Reese's peanut butter cups that were in craft room freezer. Now I am just Adding BUTT.

  • wishing I had recorded coach trying to ride his bike and take the two dogs along on their leashes...cocoa is terrified of bikes to begin with. It was extremely funny seeing her put on the breaks and run out of her collar and leash.

  • Lindsay and I rode our bikes 6 miles on Saturday.

  • Got caught up on Greys anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives and Celebrity rehab on Tivo.

  • Taught the girls once again how to properly clean their bathroom and bedrooms, I bet the rooms will stay clean exactly 30 hours.

  • Lindsay and I cleaned all the interior and exterior windows facing the lanai....she did all this for a new pair of "leg warmers." Go figure. Flash dance is apparently making a comeback.
Nothing warms my heart like seeing someone ELSE clean...

  • Linds and I rode another 6 miles on Sunday on our bikes. ****Serious question**** How do you ride a bike and NOT have it hurt your BUTT?? I am in major pain. I feel as though I may have been violated without knowing it. Do I need a "special" seat???? I am gonna have to put in a call to Lance Armstrong and find out how he survived.

FYI. I metioned Butt 3 x times in this post. what is up with that?

  1. LOL! I've never heard the word "butt" so many times in one post! (And no, Jason, please don't take this as a personal challenge to "one-up" Suz, ok?! :-) KIDDING...

Seriously.. you've done some major exercise AND cleaning this weekend - you DESERVE those Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! I'm proud of you!

My weekend activites PALE in comparison! Ha!

Although I did get my kids to clean THEIR rooms too and organize their closets... we'll have to see which set of kids trashes their rooms first.... READY, SET, GO! :-)

  2. Oh yes, and NORMAL bike seats don't work for me either.... (nor do thongs for that matter.... I'm a "full coverage" kinda girl...) :-)

Let me know what Lance says. :-)

  4. From the little bit there, your house looks GORGEOUS! *wow*

Um, I'd hire the girls to do some cleaning here too if they would want MORE leg warmers... teehee!

  5. They do have gel seats you can get for your bike to help your bum. Or I think they also make bike shorts with gel inserts in the rear! I think I've seen them on people before. Either that our they had REALLY bad cellulite.

You accomplished a lot over the weekend! You must have more than 24 hours in your day.

  7. I haven't exercised in a month now so reading this just might motivate me to get back at it...or not, but hoping it does. LOL

Isn't it a good feeling when you get a lot accomplished plus have that great time with your family? To me, there is nothing better. When my children were young they would do chores like your daughter did to earn things they wanted. Worked for them and worked for me. And yes, nothing warms my heart more than to see someone else clean my house!

  8. Good for you!! You absolutely deserve those Reeese's cup!!

I claim to be a cyclist. So I'll tell you the secret for a sore butt....there isn't one!

One thing that will help is cycling shorts - the Spandex & padded kind. Yeah, you will look and feel like an idiot but they help.

The other thing that helps is to keep riding. The more you ride, the tougher your hiney will become. Serious cyclists have callouses (sp?) on their nether regions!

  9. Well, Woody just convinced me to stay away from cycling. The thought of callouses on my nether regions makes me VERY nervous!!!

I'm exhausted after reading your post. I think I need a peanut butter cup to give me a little energy!!! I went to an auction Saturday, and started the big garage clean up after church on Sunday. WHEW! I have a LONG way to go:(

  10. Your butt has to get use to riding. Yes, it will hurt at first regardless of the seat you have, but the more you ride, it will get use to it and not hurt anymore. I thought the same thing last year as I started training for a century ride. But, come time for the ride, I rode 100+ miles and my butt didn't hurt a bit. Just keep at it. Good job on getting the family involved.

  11. Wow ... you got a lot done this weekend. All that bike riding will burn those Reese's off. Go, girlfriend ! You are inspiring me. And I just love clean windows : )

  12. I'm reading some of these comments. In particular the one about the more you ride, the tougher your butt gets including developing... "calluses on your nether regions..."??? Eek.

I don't think Coach would be thrilled with that possibility... LOL. ;-)

  13. Wow! I'm impressed with all the exercise you got this weekend. You know, for your BUTT! tee hee! Smileygirl beat me to it, I was going to suggest a gel seat. My sister swears by hers. If I ever got my BUTT on a bike, I could tell you what I think, but that's not gonna happen any time soon! Especially now that it's SNOWING!! Oh, happy day!

  14. Hi Suz!
Your weekend sounded jam packed. Kind of like mine, but you weren't stuck in an office from 11 to 7 on an effing Sunday. I would have MUCH RATHER been cleaning windows! Seriously.

As for the butt on a bike, yes, Incredible Woody and Running Girl are correct. I am a spinning instructor 3 times per week at the gym and it does take a few rides for your pelvic and gluteal bones and muscles to adapt to the friction.

And, yes, there are most definitely callouses that form on the back of your pelvic bone plate, but that is absolutely what should happen during healthy exercise. You have callouses on the tips of your fingertip bones from just typing, but you don't see them or feel them. Same goes for ANY other part of the body that gets repetative motion, friction, and resistance. So, keep riding and walking! Coach will NOT mind and nor will he be able to feel or see any callouses ANYWHERE. :-)

By the way, riding a bike is amazing for your lower abs and deep, deep layers of your lower body muscles. Go girl!

  15. Wow you are a busy bee!
Maybe one of those John Deere Tractor seats could be put on your bike. You would be the riding redneck of the neighborhood.

  16. I go thro seasons when I pump iron and then stop so "You go girl"!
As much as I run,I eat double that so I am adding gut !
I did see leg warmers everywhere ,they were cute.I am curious, how will she wear them ?
