Today is my Dad's birthday.
He would have been 68. (Is that right Mom?)
He died when he was 52.
He was no prince, or ward cleaver for that matter, but he produced ME.
That has to count for something good.
I miss him everyday....I wonder what it would be like to have him in my life again...
He got sick and died very quickly. 11 days quick. cancer sucks.
Hug your loved ones.
Love your hugged ones.
Enjoy.
Life can change quickly....
Ever the miser....my Father's first words to me as I stepped out of the limo on our wedding day:
"wow, you got THAT dress for $300.00???"
Ignore the hair/dress....it was 1991 for heavens sake. :)
I love that picture, and I can only imagine how much you love it.
ReplyDeleteYour father was very handsome. I would give anything to have a picture like that. My father died at the same age, and was even a bigger miser. He was the man behind the camera when I got married, then handed me the rolls of film to have developed!
Your dress is beautiful, only $300? I hope you saved it for your girls....or maybe me if I can lose 200 lbs! :)
Cherish those memories, Suz -- they're priceless.
ReplyDeleteOh Suz, almost made me cry. Your sweet Daddy died SO young. He'd be SO proud of you and what you've done in your life-not to mention your gorgeous girls who don't get to hug their Granddaddy.
ReplyDeleteI lost a brother to cancer who was 55 (that was in 1985). That cancer is a rough disease.
Many Hugs today!!!
Betsy
that is a beautiful photo of you on your wedding day and with your dad. He was younger than me when he died so quickly. gasp!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad.
he did a good job on producing you. YES.
Remember the good times.
Words to live by.
Hugs to you :-))
Like I said in NC. Making people (including me) smile (and reflect) ever day. Well done Suz - you should be proud of yourself. Your Dad would be....

Hugs to you! Cherish those memories. Your Dad definitely did something right with you!!
ReplyDeleteAw, sweet friend. How I wish I could give you a BIG HUG today! And I think the picture is beautiful - YOU are beautiful, inside and out - and I know your Daddy is smiling down - VERY PROUD of what an amazing woman you have become.
ReplyDeleteLove,
T.
Oh Beautiful bride-your dad would be proud of you today. hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteAw, happy birthday, Suz's daddy!
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I, too, got married in 1991 (January 19. Be sure to wish me a happy un-anniversary next Monday, haha!) and I, too, paid $300 for my dress! (Clearance rack at David Bridals) I knew we were kindred spirits! :)
I can only imagine how much you miss him. Great picture of the two of you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Busy Bee's Pop Pop. I'm sure you're very proud of your beautiful girl (yes, in THAT dress) and are watching over her and her family everyday. Now go find my Dad and have a cocktail or 2 and celebrate your day!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Cancer sucks.
I love the dress and the hair, but of course, I was a big fan of the eighties.
ReplyDeleteYour dad could not have been all bad, especially for producing you, and for having the same B-day as me.
My dad died of cancer. He was sixty four. I don't think I will ever get used to it. I have learnt to accept it. I miss him every day, and there has never been one day when I haven't thought of him.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad he was with me on my wedding day.
I love your picture.
You are right- it can all change so quickly.
Wishing your Dad a Happy Birthday as he, undoubtedly, looks down and smiles at how you honor him on a daily basis...
ReplyDeleteOh, Suz. Happy Birthday to your dad. I wish he was still here to enjoy you and your family, and for you to love and enjoy him. You are so right; cancer does SUCK.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is precious and PRICELESS. I'm so glad that you have photos of him!
God bless you as you remember him.
And I love the chalk art!
I'm sorry you lost your dad - he was so young! I love the picture - you are beautiful and your dad is handsome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding us to cherish the moments that we do have.
Happy Birthday, Suz's Dad! I know she makes you proud:)
ReplyDeleteDid you really think that I would make fun of that hair? Why, of course not. In fact, I'm going to start a campaign to bring big hair back. It's not too late:)
I hate cancer. I really, really hate it. My dad has cancer right now and luckily it is the commonly curable kind. You dad went so fast. I'm so sorry. That is funny that he said that--that's always the stuff we remember ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you look pretty.
