I can be a maniac...if AND when the occasion arises.

Remember how fabulous and wonderful our Master Bath renovation turned out?
Remember how excited and thrilled I was about having such a nice bathroom...especially in the midst of all the crap going on in the world right Now?
Remember how I found it to be tranquil....my haven...my get away?
(Why YES, I expect YOU to remember EVERYTHING)
Well it has been just wonderful. AND I really do appreciate it.
I asked the Coach the other night after brushing my teeth and climbing rolling into bed:
"Do you still like our bathroom?"
He says "YES, Of course"
I started laughing and I said: "well, I don't like it...I LOVE IT!!!"
And yes, I am a total goofball.

Well on Tuesday...after working out in the morning, doing some yard work and then tons of laundry and housecleaning...I decide to take a tub bath before hitting the grocery store and picking up Linds from school.
(again, please no letters about how glamorous and exciting my life is...just deal people)

I am soaking in the tub....it is very quiet.....I forgo a magazine...I forgo the tv...skip the radio...it is just silent.

I am soaking away my worries.....AND then I hear it.
trickle. trickle. trickle.
WHAT?
I sit up. I close my eyes. (I can hear better with my eyes closed)
And I hear it some more:

trickle.trickle.trickle.

CRAP.
End of relaxation!

I look over the left side of the tub and I see WATER!!
I look over the right side of the tub. AGAIN WITH THE WATER!!!

WHAT THE HEY???????

I jumped out quickly...grabbed a robe and ran to the garage to get a bucket.

I started emptying the tub out throwing the water towards the shower.

I grab some clean towels (Lord knows you won't have dirty towels around WHEN you need them) and begin to mop up the floor....the water meanwhile is still trickling out from under the tub.

The dogs were backing away from me...instead of running to me like they usually do....They did not want to get too close to me, nor did they seem to make eye contact...hhhmmm...

maniac, Party of ONE please.

arrggghhhhh.

In my haste with the bucket...I scratched the bottom of the tub. (It is acrylic)

Of course, after all this I am flabbergasted.

I realize I did not shave my legs (there is always next month) or even condition my hair.

I call Coach and he is all calm and tranquil. UNLIKE MOI.

JUST ONE TIME I WANT HIM TO GET CRAZY and act like a maniac. LIKE ME!!!

I suppose He does not have enough raging hormones in him to make it happen....if we were both maniacs someone could get hurt....

oh, it is always something...isn't it?

I learned one very important lesson from this.....

I can't go EVEN ONE DAY without conditioning my hair...that my friends was a total mess of a hair day!

  1. Oh. NO! I would'a been flippin' out too! Nothing like water probs to go all over me. Well I hope you get your 'trickle trickle trickle' fixed very very soon... we all need to be able to envy your glamorous life again!

Instead of picturing your dogs backing away thinking "don't get too close to the crazy lady in a bathrobe".

  3. So where was the water coming from? Did you call the (incompetent) tub installation guy and "rip him a new one"???

You MUST give us "Chapter Two" of this saga!!!

Boy, what a BUZ KILL! Soaking in a bath is so lovely, and to have it ruined is awful!

  5. Yep, it's all about the hair...lol. Suz you are too funny. These things drive me crazy too and my husband is always so calm. I tell him, just once can't you freak out like me? And then he gives me this look that say's "are you serious?" I hope this leak isn't the sign of something major!

  6. The leak seems to be from the drain...where the plug meets the tub. Coach says it can be fixed....of course NOW I want to take a bath really badly...knowing that I CAN'T!!!

  7. You just experienced the number one reason I don't have a luxurious bathroom with a big square tub.

Did you pull the plug or just bail? Silly question...bailing seems like so much more fun. Silly girl. Me not you!

  8. well, hopefully it will get fixed quickly! I LOVE taking baths!!

  9. Oh, you poor thing! I would have been equally as freaked out! I'm really sorry that you scratched the tub in the process. Can that be fixed, too? Is there a way to fill in the scratch, or sand it down or something? Glad the "real" problem doesn't seem to be too major.

  10. Yikes! I would have freaked out. Hopefully you can fix everything and get back to enjoying that nice bath tub.

  11. Oh, how terrible. I hope you get it fixed quickly and I hope there's not much damage from the leak. So much for a nice, relaxing, hot bath, huh???

  12. You crack me up. Does the tub have to be pulled out? I hope not. I'm amazed that it's acrylic; I thought it was one of those huge ceramic ones that requires reinforcing the floor! Much simpler to have a lighter one, especially if it LEAKS & has to be moved around. Aargh.
You are so funny about your hair, too. Is it the humidity? I hope you get to take a truly RELAXING bath and recover from your leaky-tiki experience.

  13. Oh no!! Not another water problem - I would have lost my mind too. Men - just give it up already!

  14. LOL!! Unconditioned hair is a nightmare! And I have one of those hubbies too that refuses to go ballastic w/ me when I am going crazy about something broken. (I think the neighbors think he's dealing w/ a mental patient - lol!) I must hear - did you get the tub fixed??? Whose fault was it???

  15. The hair sets the tone for the day.

  16. Amy being a maniac is part of the "Commander in Chief of Domestic Affairs" job requirements....you certainly can't be given this position unless you can tolerate high levels of pain, crying/whining kids, drooling dogs not to mention husbands and water emergencies.......!!!
Any damage to the floor or ceiling underneath the tub and yes, I would have been bummed out over scaratching the tub...bummer....I believe they sell fiberglass repair kits at home depot!!!
How I remember the days of dogs, teens and things leaking.......
You do know that sooner than later you will be in my shoes......kids free....and you and the coach can do as you please.......!!
I think I had the empty nest syndrome for about a year but when we no longer had to support the wonderful children we began to do things for US!
So, enjoy the tub and the things that you work hard for....!
Tom is 57 and work 14 hour days and I have lupus and IC........so yes, we travel, we enjoy our hot tub.......we deserve it after rasing 4 kids, caring for aging parents, and me battling lupus/kidney problems........
So enjoy all the things that God has blessed you with......
Hey how is the landscarping going? Girl that is hard work....I hope you got the tub fixed......I really need to get moving ...I have planted a bless-it thing! Got to run...going for a bike ride !!!

  17. Well, what the heck was wrong?

Your life is a little glamorous but I don't hate you for it : ). I am glad some people in the world can lead magical lives like yours...

  18. I hate plumbing problems. We always seem to have those. Hope yours gets fixed in a jiffy.

  19. Oh Suz, I'm so glad it wasn't something major (other than a bad hair day and that furry growth from your legs). I could totally understand how panic set it. You handled it very well so be proud of yourself. Hope all works out for ya!

  20. CRAP! That would spoil my bath too Suz. Especially the part about scratching the tub. Can it be fixed? You didn't have it long enough to warrant any blemishes yet. :( That stinks. I'm with Happy Wife Happy Life, you need to give us a Part II of the tub woes.

    Much love from NJ,
    Sue

  21. I get that. After all of that work and money...it would make me crazy too. I kind of panic when appliances stop working too. Or if the sink gets plugged. It go a little kookoo until it gets fixed.

  22. Oh No! Hope it wasn't a huge problem to fix.
    It sure does Look pretty!

  23. That is never good. Especially if you're on the second floor. More details, please!

  24. I'm confused on the "not pulling the plug" thing although I can see where that might have made it worse? And why are there no dirty towels - I think you have explained your incredible housekeeping to us in previous posts?

that said I am VERY sorry you didn't get your bath. And the hair? I hear you!
