Photos from the fair.....

You will notice a theme here.....
food. and not the good & healthy kind either.
I awoke Saturday morning with the demon seed inside me. Girls, you know what I am talking about. PMS. I only get it for ONE day. AND it is not pleasant for anyone involved.
I think I may have mumbled this statement as we loaded up for the 2 hour drive:
"I don't really want to leave the house...but if I have to go, I had better get something fried in my body soon, or someone will end up with a fork in the eye"

We ate...in no particular order:

Corn dogs, Roasted corn on the cob (extra salt)
Elephant ears, Sausage and peppers, french fries, cotton candy, turkey legs,
a bloomin' onion....
oh, talk about gluttony.

We did not eat this though. but they looked good...it was tempting....I mean, I love pickles and they are fried...what could be better?

Bloomin' good onion.

cave girls and their turkey leg.

We also did not eat the fried oreos. Tempted though....

Lo, got some funky hair twirly thingy that G'ma and G'pa bought for the girls...really cute.

There was lots of spinning, twirling, flipping and screaming.
Not me though, I just ate my way through the fair.

The people watching was very entertaining...I am always wondering what some folks are thinking when they get dressed to leave the house. hmmmmm.

It was a gorgeous day, but when the sun went down....ohh, it was chilly. and windy.

Ok, it was about 50. But that is cold for us Floridians.

Coach and my FIL had on shorts...but they at least had on a sweatshirt...men are silly.

I did not reach my goal of eating so much that I would throw up....I suppose that is a good sign. Even the next day, I did not feel bad.

Lucky for my family, no one got a fork in the eye. This time.

Till next time.

  1. i suppose you can't eat all of that and ride the round-and-round stuff! so glad you resisted the fork in the eye to any of your beloed fmaily... but really, i'm sure all they had were plastic forks... so how much could it have hurt? yeah.. think about that for next time!
WAIT! you didn't try to deep fried oreo? did they have the deeep fried snickers? i know... i'm probably the only one brave enough to try that... but it was worth it. only 3 more days and you can try one at the cc fair :)

  4. Personally, I'm a roller coaster junkie. I can't go 'round in circles though. *shudder* Just thinking about it makes me queasy!

  5. Sounds and looks like you all had a great time with all the eating and people watching...and I love people watching and I do wonder to myself many times, if people really know what they look like when they leave the house 'cause seriously, it's hard not to stare at some of them!

Glad no one got a fork in the eye (this time)!

  6. I see you have encountered the evilness of the sweet doughy-yet-crunchy powdered sugaryness of the funnel cake. It's evil. It calls to me in the middle of the night saying "eat me...eat me now...and maybe a few of my brothers while you are at it."

The evil genius that invented the stuff must have known that the results were that whoever ingested the funnel cake would wake the next morning with a wider and dimpled ass that looks strangely exactly like a funnel cake with out the sugar. (Unles you are all kinds of kinky at night and then, hey, I don't judge.)

I must now investigate the conspiracy that is the fried pickles and Oreos...hmmmm.

  9. The best PMS fair food is a fried Snickers! Take a Snickers, put it on a stick, coat it in sweet batter, deep fry it, and coat it with powdered sugar!! Yum!!

  12. You should have tried the fried pickles. They are good, especially with ranch dressing. But it sounds as if you had a successful visit to the fair even if you didn't try the pickles (or oreos).

  13. Oh I've been waiting on this post, Suz... I'm glad all of that nutritious food kept you from poking someone in the eye!!!! Amazing how food can do that??? When I cry, George asks me if I want some ice cream or something... I guess he thinks that food will make me quit crying. (And it usually DOES! ha)

Glad you had a great day.. I think I may have had to try one of those oreos.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  21. I'm trying to figure out why my comment on your last Fair post listed me as Anonymous....weird. Oh, well! (It's BHE - just in case) CB & I prefer to eat our way through the fair as well. Seeing the fried pickle and the fried onion made me SO envious!!!

I have to tell you that I'm a little disappointed that there are no pictures of the Carnies. Although, I DO understand that pictures just don't do them justice.

  23. Only YOU would be kind enough to post food photos so that we can all eat that junk vicariously through your Fair Day! Thank you - I needed that cotton candy. The blooming onion is a new concept for me. WOW. I bet that was quite a car ride home...

  25. You are SO funny!
    Nothing beats "fair" food!

At the Minnesota State Fair they have these things called "fried cheese curds" (sounds horrible right?) They are absolutely DEEE-lish-us! (Similar to mozzarella sticks, but WAY better...

I love the "fork in the eye" thing. Right up there with "Shanking". I hereby nominate you for Mom Of The Year, darling. :)
