The Good News: Lo does not need surgery on her wrist for the fracture.
The Bad News: She is done with Volleyball for this season and hoping to be recovered for Softball come January.
I don't feel like such a horrible Mom anymore. (well maybe just a tad)
The Dr. said that her continuing to play was not making the injury any worse.
But her wrist would never fully heal without immobilizing it for some time.
He did not give a specific time frame, but alluded it could take as long as 3 months.
She goes back in 3 weeks for another X-Ray.
The funny thing is that last night she and I were talking about the possibilities of the Dr's appt. Would she get a cast? I said Nahh....maybe a brace.
Then she asked me how they even make casts....we went from there guessing the ways they are made...I never had one myself.
So today, she called me as she and Dad were leaving the Dr's office. The first thing she said was:
I now KNOW how they make casts!
She was so happy to have this bit of info. now.
Cute kid.
She at least got it in her school color....Green.
It was comical seeing her try to write with a pencil. This should be a fun few months. :)
Green is neat color...My son had three colors on his but he was 8 and they were being very creative! Hope it comes off soon!

Cool, it's GREEN :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear there will be no surgery required.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling like mom might be taking some homework dictation.
SO glad that she doesn't need surgery! Yippee! I am sorry that she is out of volleyball this fall, but better to let it heal, I agree. What a great "sport," to pose for the photo with her new cast. They are both adorable. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are beautiful, and the cast rocks! My shcool colors where green and white.
ReplyDeleteAaah. Memories of the Pediatric Hand and Wrist specialist. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteIf she was a boy she'd be using that as a weapon to beat her sibling! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Green is my favorite color! So sorry that she had to give up volleyball, though. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she doesn't need surgery, but I'm sorry she has to give up V'ball.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are adorable - can't believe how big they are. Give them both big hugs from me! (S and J remember them so fondly!)
Love you, girl! :-)
