I had 5 minutes to put this post together, so don't criticize too much.
Or at all.
Or at all.
I'm really earning my nickname this week. Busy busy busy Bee.
But I can't let another day go by without sharing with you our big news.
I'm a Grandma!!!!!
I know, I know....it just kinda 'happened' as these things do.
I've himmed and hawed about it for a while, but I finally caved and I love the little booger!
Isn't that a sweet baby?
Oh, wait, that baby is almost 21!
THIS BABY:
Here he is investigating my Petunias. (When he is in the brown state…it means he's a bit nervous-don't worry, a minute later he was green again) |
Lolo has been asking for a chameleon for over a year. With her impeding 21st bday coming up, she has been begging, pleading and she won't deny that there were tears of JOY when she saw him the first time.
I'm a sucker for the tears.
Since she's already looking into graduate schools and WILL take her baby with her, I caved.
Zim is named after Phillip Zimbardo; the well know Psychologist. Of course YOU knew that!
Lolo (the college nerd) and Zim her baby. Yes, he looks similar to Grumpy Cat. |
Zim is a veiled chameleon. His color variation is not like those on TV. He is also easier to keep than those more colorful chameleons on tv.
THAT is not to say, he is easy to care for. He requires different lighting/temps during the day/night. We've provided him with natural plants in his habitat and he needs food (live crickets/meal worms) daily. This isn't an easy critter to care for.
I have some cute video of him that I'll share at some point.
Guess what's happening this weekend??
PROM!
And of course, I'll share photos next week.
Have a great weekend!
Happy Mother's day to all you nurturers, caregivers and Chameleon moms!
You are such a good mom! Our girls are constantly begging for another pet (a small dog, a sugar glider, a turtle... just to name a few) but this mean old mama won't let them have em. Who knows, in a few years when they'll take them with them, I might change my mind... Have a very happy mother's day!!
ReplyDeleteHe is cute! Can't wait to see prom photos.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you and your beautiful Mom.
He's so cute! But I'm with you. Give him to her when you know she'll be leaving and take care of him herself!!! Wow, that's a great deal of care for such a small creature. Happy Mother's Day to you, too!
ReplyDeleteHe DOES look like grumpy cat! That pet sounds like a lot of work to me!
ReplyDeletehe's cute! i have a zim. my chestnut gelding. his registered arabian name is la azim halim - shortened to zim. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute grand-chameleon. Have a great Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteOh he is so cute! Such a sucker Mom you are! :) hehe, have fun planning prom stuff!
ReplyDeleteI know Philip Zimbardo well - cool name! He is adorable!
ReplyDeleteCute! How big will he get? My friend has a bearded dragon and I'm pretty sure they had no idea it would get as large as it is. Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteAdult males are relatively large for reptiles. They can reach an overall length of 24 inches (60 cm). Most specimens usually grow to between 14 and 18 in (35–45 cm). Females are smaller, with the average overall length being just under 12 in.
DeleteWe still don't know if Zim is a he or a she….but I have a feeling we will refer to Zim as a he no matter what.
Oh my gosh! So he doesn't turn colors like in the paint commercials, huh?! He's cute anyway...but ew on his dining selections. Glad he can go off to college too. : ) It's prom for us too. Fun times. Happy weekend and happy Mother's Day! Hugs! : )
ReplyDeleteMy girl was talking psychology all night long last night--how cool when they are wicked smart & educated, no?!
ReplyDeleteLove your menagerie.
He is adorable ~ I love him !
ReplyDeleteA college chameleon in the making .
Ahhhh---they do grow up, don't they???? Cannot believe how fast time travels sometimes... Glad Lola has her new pet --to help take care of her!!!!!! I saw that prom dress on FB.. It is AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
