We have already determined that I am a tree hugger...

Would there be any doubt that I am also a 'Rock hugger'????

I am extremely disappointed to find that not all areas of our wonderful country are living by the moto: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It has bothered me so much, that at night I am dreaming of landfills full of plastic and Styrofoam. I need to get back to the safety of my home and my beloved recycle bins.

:::shudder:::I actually threw out recyclables this week. I had no choice:::shudder:::

Yes, I will burn in hell for this horrible act; I am positive.

I need therapy badly.

  1. LOL...you are too funny Suz! I'm a big recycler too and it drives me crazy when I have been somewhere and had to throw something in the regular garbage. Those are really cool pictures!

  2. Hugging rocks is almost as good as hugging trees! Maybe a return to recycle bins will cure you without expensive therapy...

  3. Silly Girl.... Just relax and enjoy your vacation. You can recycle all you want to when you get home. The country is BEHIND you and what you want to see happen... But--right now, you can't do a darn thing about it. And--I'm sure you won't burn in hell for throwing out recyclables....

By the way, just because of YOU, we are now using re-usable bags at Walmart and Krogers when we go shopping. Aren't you proud of us????

Love that first picture of you holding that tiny little rock.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  4. The state of the earth shouldn't rest on your shoulders alone! I feel bad that you missed your recycle bin while you were on vacation....most people miss their pets! I can send you some of my garbage, I mean plastic stuff if you want. Also, did you now there are websites that cater to making crafts from recyclable stuff?

I love the photo of you hugging that boulder!!! You look so cute.

  5. We have to take our recylables into town when we are on vacation--the condo complex only has dumpsters. With the number of glass bottles we go through it would be a real travesty to just throw them away!

  11. Poor Suz! I know how you feel about those landfills! I'd be tempted to ship them some recycling bins! Right now I'm stressing over water contamination in areas of northern Michigan - the life of a tree and rock lover never ceases!

  13. More pics, please - always a delight to see your original point of view of the world!

When you get home just recycle twice as much and you'll feel better. Reuse banana peels as toilet paper, for example, and onion nets make nice poofy sponges for the shower!

OK I'm too tired to be funny... I tried :-(

  14. Where are you? That place is beautiful.

I thought of you yesterday. I went to K-Mart, dutifully taking in my own bag. Upon checkout, I received about a mile of receipts. Maybe 2 inches of it was actual receipt. The rest were ads!! Can you imagine the paper they go through in a day, printing that much for everyone?!?

  16. If I was near those beautiful rocks I think I would hug them too. I must admit that I was surprised to find that the Park Service does not have separate bins for aluminum cans and plastic in the Great Smoky Mountains. We carried our empty cans back home sos we could recycle here.

  18. I know, I know! Going out of state puts my nerves on edge for that very reason.

FYI: Water bottle free for months now! I use my Brita and my reusable water bottle faithfully. Thanks to you. See? You're making a difference.
