That is how long I have feared this:
We had an eventful day off from school.
There were many hoops to jump through:
*getting important documents out of safe deposit box
*driving to next county to borrow a small truck from the business, so Lo did not have to drive my ‘bus’ for the test. (although she drives the bus wonderfully, parking can be a challenge)
*finding out that borrowed truck has been used by someone who smoked a bajillion cigarettes.
*taking smelly truck to car wash and buying enough air freshener to kill the ozone. (sorry earth)
And a few ah-ha moments:
*having my girls finally see ‘crank’ windows..for the first time.
*having my girls realize how spoiled they are with our nice vehicles that have space for more than 2.5 people. The 3 of us were a little too close in this mini small cab truck.
Lo passing her test on the first try: Priceless!
Now if she could keep her grades up, there may be a vehicle in her future. (maybe with crank windows!!) Then I will have to figure out how to keep her home!!!
Congrats to Lo! I had one car with crank windows that somehow cranked backwards!!! That was really a challenge!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter. My daughter passed 1st time too but with a driving school, the same lady who taught me years ago. Our kiddos can only get their drivers when they are 18 though and my son of 19 only has his learners so far.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! I also dreaded that day, but then after so many trips to swim practice and other activities, I was delighted to have my daughter driving herself. The rule was ABSOLUTELY NO ONE else in the car until you are 18. Hard and fast and no exceptions.

ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! True story: Not a half an hour after getting my liscense I rear ended a van. There was no damage so nothing was filed.. but I think thats not a very good sign :) lol.... It was a sign of things to come, trust me.. ask my mother!

Congrats!!!! I will never forget when Cheerleader Girl got her license :) Ahhhh, the fear AND the freedom. Now we are working on Bud, and I gotta tell ya, not looking forward to it ... at all!

Woo hoo! Good for her! And maybe not so good for you..depends. LOL So do they still make you parallel park? I dreaded that when I took my test. I think that was the last time I ever parked that way. I will go out of my way NOT to park like that. I drive a 'bus' and sometimes *I* have trouble parking between the lines. I'm always opening the door to check the line and going 'oops'. Back out and try again. LOL
ReplyDeletemy 'A' has too much school for driving today!! actually we have to wait for summer because it costs almost $300.00 here for her to take drivers ed. but then she can use my vehicle to go to school if she wants.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Lo and best wishes to Mom and Dad. I remember when my daughter got her license. She was a pretty responsible driver -- and she was responsible for many gray hairs. (This was back in the day when I had hair on my head!!)

Oh sweetie, Make sure that she knows she can't change the radio, adjust the heater or talk on the phone while behind the wheel. They seem to be major distractions for new drivers. Hang in there!! x-c
