Our Thanksgiving week in a nutshell.
We shopped. We laughed. We ate. We shopped. We Laughed. We ate. We shopped.
You get the picture.
My Mom arrived last Friday and our East coast peeps arrived on Wednesday.

Thanksgiving DAY was just lovely. A bit on the hot side...especially with that oven going all day. Next year, I am looking into one of those big roasters....that I can leave outside for the day.
The good news? I did not injure any one.
{I tend to get a little territorial of my kitchen on holidays!}
I did however, injure myself; opening a bottle of wine.
Perhaps 10 am is too early for my wrists?
Nahhhhh.
The early bottle was for the bird. I feel better about things if I get him intoxicated before I ruin his day.
Inside dining and outside dining. Whatever your pleasure. And no kids tables...we mix and mingle because I don't want to be the only one at the kids table.

Linds is in charge of table decor and set up...Martha Stewart never had it so good.
Linds and Heather.
Dinner was to be at 3pm. We ate at 3:07.
Not my first rodeo, but it was his last.
Again, he felt nothing after that cheap bottle of chardonnay.

My Atlanta peeps were not able to visit with us this year....we missed them dearly.
My Uncle Jim is usually in charge of our dinner blessing....but somebody came through for us.
Oh.yes.he.did.
quite appropriate.
We were able to get ONE family shot of the four of us. Do you see the others that tried to join in with us?
Perhaps my Grandma and Brother? They both loved Thanksgiving, and we DID have room at the tables for more.
We've got spirit(s) yes we do, we've got spirt(s) how about you?
We had pool splashing too. Did you?
You know I don't mess with all that shopping madness on Friday...not.on.your.life.buddy!
We had a beautiful week....I am truly blessed!
I hope your Thanksgiving left you feeling thankful as well.

What a fun post! Sounds like you had a great holiday. :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of your photos, Suzanne! I can't believe the meal was 7 min. late!!!! My late grandpa would forget that he had eaten and then he would tell my mom, "just fry me an egg if you don't have anything else!!!"
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your blog.
It sounds wonderful and then some ; )
ReplyDeleteThat turkey looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh...hot and swimming on Thanksgiving...what planet do you live on again? :)
ReplyDeletei love hearing about it again! our dinner was supposed to be @ 3. we were later than you... we were carving the turkey @ 3:38. oops!
ReplyDeletelove the new pics... but hate that it means we missed out on a fun photo session!
Shopping, laughing, eating. Does it get any better??
ReplyDeleteHi There, We are home from our trip. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. From the pictures and your words, I think you all had a wonderful day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that photo of the family.... Love those curls!!!
Hugs,
Bets
You make everything so joyful! Sorry your mom had to leave so quickly, but then again, you might be glad about that so just in case...hooray!
ReplyDeleteGreat post... Love the pic of you and your mom!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I can show you how to get rid of the spirits, if you'd like.
Um. The ones in the pictures, I mean.
If you have any in the house, you might want to call GhostBusters. Or Hunters, they're younger {and cuter}.
Everything looked beautiful...the decorations, the food, the people...! So glad you had a good one. : )
ReplyDeleteMary Lou
The tables looked beautiful and the turkey - oh my. Maybe the key to a good looking turkey is getting him drunk first. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE the new header!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving sounds absolutely wonderful! Well, all except for the HEAT!! Swimming? Seriously!?? On Thanksgiving?!?! Our favorite Thanksgiving memories from our childhood all involve snow!!
One of our favorites when we were kids is a Thanksgiving when we had a huge snowfall. All 12 of us grandkids went out in the yard and built slopes to sled down. We were out there for hours! I guarantee the grownups loved it! ;-)
I'm glad you don't do the "kids table" thing. I spent many years wanting so much to be at the "grownup table." I'll never forget the first year I sat at the big people table. I was so disappointed. Those old people were BORING!
ReplyDeleteLove the hand turkey. I remember making them myself in grade school. Along with the apple-turned-turkey with a marshmallow head.
Sounds like a good time!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new header and all the pics with explanations. That boy is toooooo adorable. I remember he was featured a few months back - - - maybe a birthday? Lolo looks older - - - after just a partial semester away from home. How's her shoulder? Does the one dog (in the header) know you got the best side showing?
ReplyDeleteHey sweet girl! We had a GREAT TG as well... due to Ron's spinal fusion surgery (1 month ago), he was unable to do the full feast for everyone (like he has done for the past 2 decades..), so we all went to mom's and SHE did the cooking. I was a bit apprehensive but I must say she did a GREAT job! Ron enjoyed being waited on. The next morning, I was up, in the car and on my way to the mall by 5:50 AM (armed with sale fliers, and my 'Bux double tall mocha...) it was AWESOME! Yes, I know you have to deal with crazy crowds, but you also get CRAZY deals that day that you simply can't get any other time of the year. And hey, as long as you're willing to overlook a few toothless redneckes rioting over $2 waffle irons, and a crazy lady spraying crowds with pepper spray to get the 1 XBox at the advertised cost, it's SOOOO worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pics and i know you had a Wonderful Day! :)
What a fun Thanksgiving! Don't do Black Friday shopping either. I used to, but I gave it up. It was easier that way!!
ReplyDeleteYour turkey looks MMM-mmm-good! Cute pics too especially that little handprint...I made 23 of those this year :)
ReplyDeleteAs for shopping....no thank you...people actually got shot here and pepper sprayed and all....geez! I will use the internet (cyber Monday,)thank you very much :)
Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving with us. The table was beautiful and I was glad to hear that you numbed the bird before you did him in. There were obviously many good spirits around your table.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the picture of the four of you (or was it six?) was neat.
What a beautiful table setting! And your bird, he was perfectly tanned - I mean, browned. I love me some crispy turkey skin...
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled that you had your beloveds with you - as many as possible - and enjoyed feasting and giving thanks together. I love your family photo - with spirits. Of course they are with you in love!
xoxoxo
We had a great time, too. I'm all about the internet, baby--I may never go to another mall.
ReplyDeleteLove the new header!
A soused fowl, hunky males, tables all decked out, a hand turkey that talks, a dip in the pool, a groupie pic with poltergiest stuff, two babes dressed in black...Hey, what more could anyone want? Glad you had such a great time Suz:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Thanksgiving! Your spirits theory makes sense to me. :) Why not??
ReplyDeleteOh, I miss the warm Thanksgivings of South Texas. No pool splashing for me *sniff sniff*
