TGIF and Before & After (part 2)

Tis' Friday....AGAIN?
Where did the week go????
It is MAY. What happened to April?
I just want to freeze some days....they are flying by too quickly.

I worked on one final (?) plant bed in our yard this week.
Before:
During.
I can now add archaeologist to my resume:

After: Nothing like some new mulch, cleaned rocks and lots of my sweat to make a nice change.

It is getting very hot...already. I have to get all my outside stuff done in the am.
Summer is already here in South West Florida...uggghhh. I may try out the pool this weekend...I am quite spoiled as I usually don't dip past my ankles unless the water is 83 degrees. Although truth be told, I prefer 86. :)

Before:

Two of the reasons I change our sheets 3 to 4 x a week.

After:

That lasted about an hour...then there were 2 hissing cats and again, a sleeping Cocoa. She loves her our bed. Spoiled who?

No big plans for us this weekend...thank goodness. I love those weekends with very few commitments as they are few and far in between.

Coach and Lo have a softball fundraiser on Saturday...then I am hoping I can get *someone* to help check off some items on that ol' honey-do list...you know the *man* list of stuff I won't/can't do.

Maybe renting a movie would be a good idea...or watch one of the hundred we already have???

Any good rental suggestions?

We recently watched:

*Taken-Action packed.

*The Last King Of Scotland-Good, but very violent.

Ok, I thought I could list more...I must have forgot any other movies, or perhaps that was all we saw. Sad.

I started tivo-ing the FX show The Riches for Coach to watch. They started over from the pilot, but are playing only one show per week....

I am up to date on those myself...I really love that show. Perhaps I could rent the first and second season and become a sofa spud.

Anyone else love this show?

Eddie Izzard & Minnie Driver...travelers/gypsies...genius.

Any big plans out there for the weekend...c'mon make me jealous!!!

Happy Weekend.

I hope your weekend is full of fun, relaxing with people you like and clean sheets!!!

  1. Hi Suzanne, Your garden bed looks great with the new mulch and rocks. Mulch is one of my favorite things!
The pic of the pets on the bed is sweet. My 2 cats are forever on the bed; fortunately Harriet can't jump 6 inches off the floor or she would be up there too!
No special plans this weekend other than some yard work but like you say, it's already so hot I have to do it very early or late afternoon. Hope you enjoy a leisurely weekend. Thanks for your visits and well wishes.

  3. I think I might have to copy your rock /mulch idea.... Love how it looks! And yes - all animals own OUR beds. My cat also owns any sweater I happen to leave out! :)
This weekend I"ll be at the cabin copying your rock/mulch idea.

  4. I never saw that show Suz.
I am still trying to get over the fact that you change your sheets 3-4 times a week. WHAT? I don't care if we had nine million dogs sleeping on our bed I would not be able to change the sheets more than once a week.
No wonder you always have tons of laundry. Don't tell anyone but sometimes I even go 2 weeks without changing. Gary is so nice. He doesn't even notice. Or if he does, he certainly doesn't say anything. Changing sheets is a lot of work. WOW.

  6. You are a great grounds keeper!
I am headed South this weekend...so I will have some one else make my bed everyday for me, clean my bathroom and set out fresh towels! :)
Our plans for the week are ever changing with the group of people we are going to see there...so I am not sure what I will be doing-I'll keep you posted.

  7. Speaking of changing sheets - I absolutely love the smell of mine after they've hung out in the sunshine all day. Who's says sunshine doesn't smell??

  8. Your outside is looking pretty darn good! I am so jealous of your nice weather. We had one day last week of it being 86, which was 40-50 degrees warmer than it had been. Then the day after it was 86, it was 40 degrees colder and hasn't warmed back up since....ugh! The sun is shining today and suppose to be in the 50's so I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

No big plans for the weekend either except to hit some garage sales on Saturday. Happy weekend, Lori

PS I haven't seen or heard of any of those movies or that show. I will have to look into them!

  9. Your flower beds rock! I was looking forward to messing with stuff like that when we loved into a house, but quickly found it's just not my thing. All my flower beds now have grass in them. : )

  10. You don't want my weekend--writing the paper I didn't write last week because MVP surprised me.

    If you haven't seen Slumdog Millionare, it's a must-see.

  11. Holy cow! It's May?!? When did that happen? Did I miss a memo somewhere?

  12. Well, let's see...today is the 4th day Stud has been home sick, which makes it the 3rd day I've been home with him (his dad stayed home the first day) Obviously, he doesn't really need me to stay with him anymore, but considering I hate my job and all....plus, I'm having a Pampered Chef party tonight (I hope you can make it!) so I have lots to do for that. As a matter of fact, I should be doing those things right now, but instead, here I am, reading my favorite blogs! I'm such a loser!

It's a balmy 60ish here right now. It's PERFECT! I would be so cranky if I were there with you. :( But, the pool would certainly help! Enjoy your weekend. It sounds glorious! I wish I had nothing to "do" myself. After my party tonight, I have to work (as usual) at the bar tomorrow, where we're having a couple of parties coming in, and then we're having a private party on Sunday, so I have to work again. Ugh! I'm tired just thinking about it :( Despite being off the past two days, I'm almost more tired than if I had worked! Wednesday, Stud was really sick, so that consumed my whole day, then Wednesday night was my niece's 15th birthday, so I threw her a party! That meant I cooked and baked all day, in between nursing my baby. Yesterday, I finished cleaning up from the party, then had to take Stud to the doctor (20 minutes each way), came home, grabbed the dog and took him to the vet (20 minutes each way) then dropped him off, changed and went to a wake (25 minutes each way) Sheesh! Now wonder I was so tired, that's over two hours of driving in one afternoon!

OMG, aren't you glad you asked! Sorry, this comment is out of control, isn't it? OK, I'd better go do SOMETHING productive!! Have a great weekend, my friend!

  13. Well, I'll probably do some laundry and vacuum the floors. I may get all wild and crazy and go to Target. Jealous yet?

  14. Good job on that flower bed...it looks very nice! I can't relate to how hot it must be there, and the humidity. It's getting UP TO 70 here today - WOOHOO!
I totally agree with you about the pool temperature...that's why I don't swim, I think; most pools are way too cold. But a few laps would do my body good, I'm sure. Enjoy your free weekend with Coach & the girls! XO

  15. You've got a kickass bed, wow :-D

Our dogs are not allowed, they have their own beds... I'm not a fan of dirty sheets, LOL!

Movie rental... a most awesome classic maybe?

  17. Somehow I have trouble thinking of you as a sofa spud! I think you did a great job on the flower bed. Betsy and I are heading for the beach this weekend for a week. Do you want to do our yard work while we're gone?

  18. Fun plans.... no. Picture someone on horseback riding through dark streets yelling "the inlaws are coming... the inlaws are coming." That rider is in my head... and arrival is 6 hours 50 minutes away!!!

  19. Happy Friday, Suz... Glad you will have a 'calm' weekend--whatever that is. I meant to tell you that your pool looks alot like my son Mark's.. Don't you have a round hot tub on one side??? They do. I'm sure you saw the picture I posted. Sounds like it is time for you all to enjoy the pool.

Your yard looks fabulous. It is hard work--but doesn't it look pretty after it's all finished???? Great job!!!!

Have a wonderful day and week. I'll post one more time in the morning--but then I'll be gone for about 9 days.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  20. I LOVEEEEEEE fresh sheets. Speaking of which I must do that tomorrow.

We're going to opening day parade for t-ball then onto pictures and the game. Jealous? I think not. :-)

Hope you have a nice weekend!

    Much love from NJ,
    Sue

  21. Your mulch and clean rocks look wonderful. Here's an idea. It's still early spring here. Lots of time for you to visit me and work my yard. New mulch and clean rocks for me; more outside time for you!!

We have clean sheets tonight, too. Now Keith is sick and I am thinking of putting the dirty sheets back on.

  22. Such great photos. Love the flower beds and the bedding makeover!
My weekend will consist of running my kids to all their glorious social activities. One day...when I'm old maybe I'll have a life of my own again. Until then I think I'll steal your idea and go rent a movie!

PS Insanely jealous that you must garden in the morning before it gets too hot! LOL That might happen here by July!

  23. Beautiful garden area, and beautiful bed.
Our bed turns out to be a "flophouse" for animals and children as well. (So much for "marital bliss" in the bed..... it's more like a Family Lounge Area!) :)

  24. Wow, your yard looks fantastic! I love the weather in S. Florida. Sunshine is my best friend.

I make my best maybe once a month. I am lazy. Your headboard is very pretty!

  25. NICE job on the yard work!! so, does cocoa sleep with you at night or she just sneaks in there during the day? I sleep with chica - but she is SMALL and still hogs the bed, so I was just wondering!

  28. I also love those weekends with few commitments! Nothin' better than doing what YOU want to do. Your beds (flower and sleeping) look great. I worked on weeds this weekend and things look much cleaner. Have a great week!

  29. How did I miss this post? Oh yeah, maybe I was busy making stuff for A-Ron's fundraiser, then taking Granddaughter and friend to Austin, then sleeping all day Saturday.

You are officially a Landscape Architect!
Those beasts have you under their spell, don't they.
My TV was Celebrity Apprentice last night, and tonight it will be Dancing With the Stars.
