That time I almost bought things that I don't need, enjoying May and all my friends are turning 50.

I hopped in my car from the gym the other day and dropped my phone in the seat next to my lap. When I arrived at my destination, I picked up my phone just in time to verify which address I wanted the 14 Amazon echo Dot's that I'd ordered to be delivered to.
What the what?
Yeah, my thigh thought we needed those.
*that was a close one*
Smartphones might be a little to easy to work where my leg is concerned.

It's May! Well, it's actually May 4th.
I always enjoy May; it brings Mother's day and our wedding anniversary.
And this May, we have a weekend with our besties planned, then I have a 'surprise destination' trip with girlfriends and we also have a date with Billy Currington. All.GOOD.STUFF.

This week one of my favorite friends turned 50 and boy oh boy, does she make 50 look good. She claims that 'stress' will do that to you! Gosh do I love her and I so wish she had less stress in her life.
2018

Here we are on my 40th birthday almost 11 years ago.
We've been friends for around 20 years; and dare I say, I think we look better now!
2007

Have a fantastic weekend doing whatever it is that you do on the weekend. If you need me, I'll be enjoying friends, the Coach and perhaps a margarita. Cinco De Mayo baby!

XOXO

Waiting by the phone for HGTV to call and being the victim of a hate crime.

So, for years and years the Coach and I've talked about flipping properties. Houses, condos, whathaveyou.
We did such a beautiful renovation on our house and I figured HGTV would be at our door in a minute to feature us on their new spin-off channel: Everything Suz Does Is Fabulous.
I haven't' come up with the entire show line up yet, but some ideas for them would be:
Bee like Suz and keep your sh*t tidy
or
Let Suz teach you how to organize your closet by season and color so you don't appear to be clinically insane.

While I'm waiting for them to come knocking on our door, we completely renovated a small condo on the bay across the street from the Gulf of Mexico.
We plan on using it for seasonal rental and when not renting, we'll visit and keep our boat there.

Ya'll, it's SO stinking cute.
Cocoa and Callie wondering when they can go back to their 'real' home.

I will eventually show real photos.

But, this post isn't really about that adorable condo that we renovated.

This post is about being hated and targeted with violence.

At this condo, there is a Mockingbird with a vendetta against ME.
Me, of all people.
Me, the nature lover.
Me, the one who feeds the d*amn birds, squirrels, bees & butterflies.
ME!

I can't go to the garbage or recycling area without being squawked at.
I can't go to my car without being assaulted by its ravenous beak and talons.
I can't take the dogs for a casual walk without being hunted down and dive-bombed.

Y'all. I hate this bird because this bird hates me.
And this bird is making my life very uncomfortable and I'm almost as traumatized as that time I saw a photo of my 80's self, wearing ALL that blue eyeshadow and NO mascara.

I googled some information because I assumed it had a nest nearby and perhaps wanted to add some of my blonde straw hair to it.
OR it was worried that I wanted its babies. (Lord knows, I don't want to feed anything more than I already do)
Come to find out, it's probably worried about its babies and guess what else.
Mockingbirds don't attack everyone. They generally will attack the same people over and over and not necessarily everyone that comes near it.
I've asked around.
I'm the ONLY target for this damn bird.

I guess I'll hit up my realtor and see if we can move this property and start renovating another one because I think the neigbhors are tired of hearing me scream my head off 4-6 times a day.

Day drinking and grieving

It was my mom's 75th birthday this past week. Since she passed away in 2015, my Aunt, Uncle and I find ways to celebrate her day. They are of course in ATL, and I'm way down here in hot azz Florida....so we celebrate together but apart.
I had to twist the arms of two of my friends to join me. I'm so strong.....and they are so weak when it comes to celebrating.

That time I took my Mom to Vegas for her 70th birthday
We did three of my mom's four favorite things; ate Mexican food, had a margarita and laughed like hyenas. She had a fourth favorite thing, but it doesn't fit in with my lifestyle; latin men.
The coach frowns upon me having gentlemen callers, even in the name of honoring my mom. What can I say? I don't want to rock the boat when the boat is floating so darn well.

You know what I'm not a fan of? Wallowing in sorrow. Unless it was a child or husband you've lost, it's part of the circle of life. Yes, I've watched The Lion King more than thrice.

I miss my Mom terribly. Sometimes I weep. I miss my Brother terribly, and my father and my Sassy Grandma and the other two Grandpa's (even the crabby one). But you know what, we can't live forever. Death is a part of life.

*pulls up big girl panties*

I'm not saying everyone has to grieve as I do, but some people seem to ONLY focus on the people who they've lost and not the people who they still have around them. I.don't.get.it.

Another thing I don't get is bad driving. Why?

Anyhoo, I really started and kept up this blog for my Mom's reading pleasure. I hope she has a good wifi provider now and is keeping up with me and my shenanigans.

Happy birthday Bev! XOXO

The new one.

This past weekend we had a family reunion. Well, kinda.
The Coach's Mom asked if anyone wanted to meet for lunch in a little po'dunk town that is about 1/2 way between her house and our house.
Well, even though I have been feeling like crapola, I couldn't miss a family reunion lunch. What I did miss, was taking a picture of said family reunion lunch. Coach's Mom and Stepdad, Coach and I, Lolo and Linds, Coach's brother, his GF, my Niece, her husband and cute as heck baby and my Nephew. All for lunch about an hour away. IT was great to see everyone. I felt good enough during the entire lunch to eat real food and carry on a conversation.
*looks around for gold medal*

Anyhoo, Lolo mentioned that she's been dating a new boy.  I guess she actually dates men, but I just can't bring myself to call them that just yet.
According to her, this boy is all that and a bag of chips. Gosh, I love chips. But that's just my stomach talking.
She met him at work; he's a fellow Popo but works in a different part of town.
I try not to get excited, even though secretly, I'm planning a wedding and baby shower at the same time in my head. I'm a multitasking planner.
She's taken me down this road before. A few years ago, it was The Detective. We really liked him; he had his act together; a great career and was settled in his own home, comes from a good family and has no drama in his life. I guess he was a man and not a boy, so I have to take that part back.

Next, there was The Accountant. Again, he comes from a great family, was working full time and finishing up his Master's degree. We liked him. Well, I should say I 'couldn't find anything wrong with him' and that's pretty darn good. But again, she sent him packing.

I'm putting my foot down and not really getting excited about The Deputy Guy. (yeah, I just named him) But if someone could possibly find the perfect man, get married, have babies and never move more than 5 miles away from me, then I'll stop having to plan these secret weddings and baby showers in my head.

See, she looks great with a baby!

Really, I'm not gonna think about it at all.

But, what color MOB (Mother of Bride) dress would look good on me?

XOXO
