TGIF; Green Stuff Happens.

Friday again. Yippe.

Cyber hugs for all the nice notes and emails this week. Ya’ll are some very nice people.

All of you except for the weirdo who keeps leaving me links to see nekkid pictures of his girlfriend. Shame shame…I know your name: nasty person in Singapore.

Made some progress on the farm…

La’ fence by La’ Coach.P1040728

So far I have planted in the ground ‘maters, some herbs, jalapeño, a few varieties of lettuce.

My seeds.

I may have went overboard here. Maybe?

Spinach (aye! Popeye) Tomato's, cukes, red pepper, cilantro, lettuce, broccoli and carrots.

Mr. Man is still working on the trellis for the ‘maters…but no hurry, they are still lil’ babies.

When my seedlings are bigger, they will be moved into the farmville with their older cousins. It will be a big family get together in there. Raisin’ cane.

No plans for the weekend. Maybe some weeding and laundry.

I know…great stuff huh?

You never know though, we may hop on a jet and play some roulette in Vegas.

My favorite color of roulette chip: Chartreuse or Periwinkle.

Do you play roulette?

It is addicting, just like weeding. I sometimes find myself pulling dollar weeds and shouting: RED! 21! EVEN! LUCKY 13!!!

Happy Weekend.

Bee Happy. Bee Silly. Bee GREEN! (or chartreuse)

Bittersweet.

It was sunny and warm outside. But inside this cold and dreary place you could only get a glimpse of the sun through the stained and dirty window.

Grandma was in and out of sleep. We sat or stood around her bed, having mindless conversations.

I wondered if she was hearing our words…or if she was off somewhere better.

I hoped she was revisiting some of her better days..the joyful times she had. Her travels spent with her husband, piddling at her favorite stores, playing cards with the neighbors or bowling. laughing.

I was now standing next to her, she opened her blue eyes and said to me, clear as a bell: “Suzanne, you know, you are the light of my life.”

I smiled, a few tears spilling from my eyes.

I knew this already, but it was so touching to hear the words.

Grandma never minced her words, good or bad.

I looked around, saw the Coach sitting there. I am pretty sure he heard it too. My Uncle was staring at the muted TV…even with his hearing aid he missed this comment.

Gosh, I adore that woman…she knew to say this after my cousin left the room.

For someone who rarely filtered her words from her thoughts, this was the first and possibly last time, that she thought before she spoke.

Grandma Piddled ALL over Miami.

Do you piddle?

Piddle. Paddle. Piddle.

My Grandma referred to piddling as shopping/browsing.

She also called peeing: Piddling.

I really thought she made up this word, but when I looked it up it means exactly those two things!

Silly ME!

As a kid, when she said she was in the mood to piddle, I watched to see if she headed to the bathroom or if she grabbed her purse.

My Grandma loved to Piddle.

G'ma Suz and girls

She and I would go to Jackson Byron's and piddle for hours. We could also spend a crazy amount of time piddling at the 5 and dime.

When Grandpa was finally tired of all our piddling he would suggest we go home. Grandma would say, “ok, but lets make a quick stop at Woolworths first.”

Grandpa would always oblige and drive us there, knowing full well it was going to be anything but quick!

We would piddle around Woolworths for a while. She always found something here and there that I wanted needed. Finally, when Grandma was done piddling we would head to the checkout line.

And this is the best part of the piddling around…

At the checkout line, you know they have a bazillion last minute items, candy cigarettes, paper kites, chap stick, basically all the essentials. She would say to me: “Do you want something from here?”

My eyes would light up and the answer was a resounding YES.

Before I could get out my YES though Grandpa would always say the same thing: “Miriam, you are going to spoil her!”

Of course Grandma ignored this spoiling nonsense….she knew better. I needed a little bit of spoiling…and I cherished a day piddling with my Grandparents.

In her last few years of life, she was not able to piddle much. It was too much effort for her to get out of the house. She would say to me, “gosh I miss piddling around the store.”

I‘m going to make a piddle date for myself. Not even for a special purpose. Just to piddle.

And since I have such a tiny bladder, I will make sure I piddle at home prior to my piddling trip.

Do you have a piddler in your family?
