I Rock(ed)

And I am tired as heck of rocking.

Rocked out.

P1050106

I am done. Finished. Finite.

Finally. Now, I feel like rolling.

Partway through my rock excavation and plant ripping out, I decided to be proactive and I put down some weed barrier stuff. OMG…that stuff was a pain. But so are weeds.    (BTW this fabric is made from recycled water bottles)

OK the rules:

I don’t want to see any rocks nor do I want to hear any rock music.

I don’t want to have rock salt or rock candy.

I don’t want to visit Rock City.

I don’t want to know about the Rockettes.

Ok, I think that might be all I can think of.

Oh wait, this Rock

the_rock_300

Well, he is still A-OK in my book. *wink wink*

Ironically, the song stuck in my head as I wrapped this up yesterday: “don’t be fooled by the ROCK’S that I’ve got…I’m still, I’m still Jenny from the block…”

I am pretty sure J-Lo was discussing different rocks though.

Ok, here is the finished product:

The good news: the lanai is done.

The bad news: the house is a mess, ‘cause the domestic goddess turned into a rock goddess.

Oh, heck, who cares…

I have some empty chairs under the chicki hut…

And the term Frozen Concoction is coming to mind.

Happy Weekend everyone. Any plans?

Happy Mother’s day to all you Mom’s, Grandma’s, Aunts, fur Moms, Sisters, feminine men, …etc…you get the point.

If you nurture anything (except rocks) you are well deserving of a nice day.  How I adore a nurturer.

So, what time on Sunday should we expect you…unless you already have plans?

Going WITH The Grain(s)

I have been trying to eat a better lunch and being consistent about it.

I started making Sandwiches again.

Sammies; they are one of the greatest inventions.

You know they should always be cut on a diagonal right? They taste better that way. You are welcome.

It is nice that I have fresh ‘maters and crispy lettuce to add to them.

**applause**

*taking my bow*

A few months ago, I discovered this wonderful 5 grain bread at my Publix bakery. It tastes amazing. Love it.. very filling too.

 FanoWebNineGrain

Shortly after that, I was at a different grocery store and in their bakery, I discovered 9 grain bread. Well, if 5 was good, 9 must be even more amazing.

And it was. I looooovvvveeee it.

It makes a great slice of garlic bread too if you are making red sauce with spinach ravioli! I’m just sayin’

Well, on Monday, I was at a different store. Oh, you heard? I mean you HEARD me gasping in the bakery dept???

I found 12 grain bread; the Holy grail of grainy bread.

Holy Mackerel. And yes, it is even betterererer than the first two.

If this keeps up, soon I will be having this delivered:Round_hay_bale_at_dawn

I know that is hay…but hey, you get my point.

And we all know FIBER is good for us.

My children just cringed at reading that…knowing full well that a tutorial on our color health is coming next!!

Yippee the colon talk again…at the dinner table.

And speaking of gorgeous grains, take a gander at this photo I found:

Makes me want to belt out:

“My Country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty”

Does anyone else remember singing that song in elementary school way back when???

I sure wish I appreciated a nice sammie back in the day. Back then, it was all about the chocolate milk. Pfffttt.

Green Rogaine.

Bartholomew has been begging me for an extreme makeover.

P1000385

Bart (on the right) circa 2009.

The winter did him (and his greenness) in.

P1050021It made me very sad to see him in this dry, crunchy, lifeless state.

I suppose this type of crawling plant was not meant to last  year round…so perhaps next winter I will bring him inside.

Maybe a nice moist spot for him?  {my shower?}

Never mind…I vowed not to shower with dogs a long time ago.

This was a bit precarious for him. P1050022

“Downward Dog” yoga pose.

I had to pull out the old roots and some of the moss, refill moss and I put in crawling jasmine this time.

Dogs can use some fragrance...right?   P1050025

Now he is ready for some growth again.

Topiary Rogaine.

If only I could sell this to balding men!!

If you need me, I will be in the rock quarry, I mean the lanai, I mean rock city!

I shall rename the lanai: Rock City!!!

I should be finished in a day or two.

I wish I had taken a before picture…cause the after is looking a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

I may have to change my business cards from “domestic goddess” to “landscape goddess.”

Does it pain you as much as it does me when I get all hopped up on myself???

Don’t worry, it is only temporary. I promise.

BTW: it only takes a glance at my hands to see, I am no goddess whatsoever.  I am a worker Bee!!!

I caught my cat sending a text to PETA.

One of the cats has had issues keeping the food down lately. You know what I mean. It was becoming a daily occurrence. And I was cussing daily.

I don’t like to cuss.

I have switched their food, but no luck.

So after I caught Harley hurling his food and then immediately running back to the bowl for more, I had a clever idea. (and I realized my cat might suffer from bulimia)

P1000776

“Hey, how about we don’t leave the food out 24/7 for you to eat, throw up, and then eat again”

Yes, it did take me a few weeks to come to this brilliant idea.

So, I have been picking up the food bowl in the early evening, and putting it back out in the morning.

The other two cats are rolling with it.

But Holy mackerel, you would have thought I was starving HIM to death.

So, yeah, I saw him yesterday…texting a plea for help to PETA on my cell phone.

He got as far as:

“ hep me i hungy and dat mean laty..

No dice buddy. Welcome to real ‘cat’ life.

Geeze... and I think long distance charges would have applied.

Now I wonder, should I change the password on my computer?
