Air conditioning the neighborhood and my new stuff….

Did your parents yell at you for leaving the front door open when you were a kid?

My Dad did…constantly: "What are you doing? Air-conditioning the neighborhood?"

What about staring into the open fridge? "Are you taking inventory?" (why, yes I was)

I am proud embarrassed as heck to say, that I have spewed out the same comments….crud. I AM MY PARENTS!

Those things always come back to bite you…..

Life is all about learning. Right?

Right. And life is about biting you BACK. You know, for not listening to your parents.

We learned a new lesson this weekend.

Before leaving the house, it is imperative to make sure your fridge door is CLOSED. Yeah. We SHOULD know this. And who would have thunk it? IT was open all weekend.

So, we were air conditioning the HOUSE and taking inventory of the fridge...all while we were GONE.

Approx 40 bucks worth of groceries had to be tossed. Oh, how I loathe waste. And I will be scared anxious to see our electric bill. ugghhhh.

It is always something. I suppose I should be thankful…we did not have lightening hit the house this time. That 40 bucks is really just a drop in the bucket compared to what lightening did to our house a few summers ago.

Florida=Paradise. I swear.

Oh, and close the front door for heavens sakes People!

Did anyone see that Oprah show a few weeks ago where families gave up all their electronics?

I know not everyone is a fan of Mrs. O…I don’t LOVE her, but I do like the topics she sometimes covers….

The families gave up computers, phones, I-pods and TV’s for a week or two.

Time for the family to enjoy each other while NOT hooked up.

Well, I could totally do that. Really I could.

But NOT this week.

This past week I got two new toys.

I got this for Mother’s day. Well, I was given a different one, but me being me, I took it back and got the one I have been dreaming about:

So far, I am having a good time with this little baby. 12X zoom. ahhhh. I lurrve it.

It is BLUE and still small enough to carry around.

Even Ozzie likes it…cause he does NOT have green alien eyes with this camera!!!

I have been playing with the new toy in the yard…..just loving it to pieces!!!

And I am proud to say I have joined the revolution. The text revolution that is.

I have had the phone for about a week and so far I have sent about 25 texts.

Really, it took me a week to send 25. ;0

I have this phone in blue also.

I suppose blue is my favorite color…this week. Yet I am STILL a green girl at heart!!!

All thanks to My Sugar Daddy The Coach. Thanks honey.

Really, everyone should have a Sugar Daddy wonderful husband like I do.

Anyone else stimulating the economy??? How about your electric company????

Pairs and Pears.

Lo took a pottery class this year as part of her art choices.

Obviously, she likes making pears. I had no idea.

Ask her if she has ever eaten one…I think the answer will be NO.

Apples? YES. Nanas? YES. Pears? nada.

The pitcher actually holds water!! It will have a home on the counter top.

Ask her how many times I bragged how good she is in pottery class and the fact that ONE day, she will be able to have a job at the Pottery Barn.

Go ahead, just ask her…she will roll her eyes and say: “not again, with the Pottery barn joke Mom”

FYI, I love pottery barn and a family discount would be much appreciated. :)

Did you know that silly socks were all the rage??? Me neither.

These are Lindsay’s feet from this past weekend.

I have a flip flop tan, she has a sock tan.

99 is my favorite number.

  DSCN5569   Our weekend update.

We had a good time in Clearwater, Fl. Nice weather minus rain. 86 and sunny with just the perfect amount of breeziness. I try not to complain, but 83 would have been better. :)

Still had to double up on the sunscreen ‘cause Mr. Sun is non forgiving. I must remember to spray my feet, for I now have a flip flop tan. (kinda like a farmers tan for slackers)

The girls won the first 3 games on Saturday. A long day for the girls too…they were at the field by nine am and did not leave until 8pm. We took a short break and went to Chic Fil A and strolled around Target stimulating the economy. Seems we do this in every town we go to. It may be my ‘secret’ goal to cross the threshold of every.single.target.in.the.USA!

come Sunday, not so good. We lost 2 in a row and were given our driving walking papers. We came in 5th out of 30 teams.  You can’t win them all. At least that is what ‘they’ keep telling me. I almost refuse to believe this lie.

I took this picture of the team warming up before their third game on Saturday. IT was cute how they formed a circle around this young magnolia tree. My comedienne Lindsay made a comment that it looked like they were ‘worshipping’ the tree…some sort of pre-softball game tree/stretching ritual. :)

Lo had a good time and I can only remember ONE injury incident. The child should have come with bubble wrap and a permanent helmet. While I am requesting that kind of stuff, she should have also come with some attached clips for all her stuff that she misplaces: cell phone, I pod etc….  I know God has a big job to do…but didn’t he see that part coming in my future????

Oh, and on the bragging front, Lo was named as one of the players for the “all conference” for this year…these players are chosen by the area coaches by the players stats. Quite the honor for her. She was also given an honorable mention in our local newspapers choice as their ‘all area’ team of athletes.

Even with these two recognitions, she still thinks she isn’t great. How to build confidence in a child who refuses to believe her parents and even other coaches??? Frustrating!

Today is our last day of school!!!!

Bring on the sleeping late and spending the waking hours in PJ’s!!! Well, maybe for a few days anyway….

Happy Tuesday!

U is for…

All weekend long as we were going about our business, my mind kept nagging at me: “U”…you have to come up with a U word…then the first word that would come to mind: UNDERWEAR. Really. I am 7 years old.

Another word that kept coming to me: Utopia. I have always loved this word…well, more than the word, I love the meaning. Wait, I suppose I love the meaning of Utopia that I have had in MY mind since…forever!

But when I googled it, I came across a plethora of meanings…all made to confuse me. really, who would do such a thing to me?

In MY mind Utopia is a perfect place to live your life; consisting of a perfect political and social system. Meaning, all people are treated the same and everyone treats each other with respect and kindness. Humans and nature living in perfect harmony.....

A fantasy? perhaps. But what a great fantasy to have.

I think if I had to choose ONE place for my utopian community….it would be in the mountains of North Carolina. Oh, just like God himself came down and touched it all. (which he DID)

179Bear Lake Reserve 8-2007 (68)

There would be rope swings to ‘tarzan’ off and clean creeks to play in.

No, never mind, perhaps the shores of the Hawaii. yeah, that would be my Utopia.

Oh jeeze, do I have to pick just one place to have this fantasy???

I suppose it does not really matter WHERE it would be. The important part would be WHO was in my utopian community. I have a few favorites already chosen…they would have to join me for sure. Would you like to come? Live peaceful and happy lives? Do good for others? Do good for yourself and not have to worry about the “bad eggs” anymore?

Awww…that would be niiiiice.

Utopia could be as close as my back yard…..

DSCN3409

Or way down in Costa Rica. Pura Vida baby! (pure life)

100_0084Copy of 100_0113

I guess it could be just a ‘state of mind.’

BUT….

If you could start your own Utopian Community, where would it be?

And can I come along with my posse???? Please???
